Job Summary
The Doctoral Capstone Coordinator (DCC) is responsible for the Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) program’s compliance with capstone requirement standards as outlined by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE).
The DCC may also be assigned other institutional duties that do not interfere with the management and administration of the capstone program.
The DCC also serves as a full-time core faculty member as defined by ACOTE and serves under the supervision of the Director of Occupational Therapy.
The DCC will hold a concurrent role as an assistant/associate professor performing duties relative to teaching, service, and research in the occupational therapy field.

Doctoral Clinical Coordinator
Work collaboratively with administrators and faculty of the Department of Occupational Therapy to ensure that the doctoral capstone complies with ACOTE accreditation standards and is well integrated within the curriculum
Develops the capstone manual and procedures for the doctoral capstone.
Responsible for all recordkeeping related to student capstone projects.
Oversees and designs the program evaluation component for the capstone
Plans, develops, and implements the capstone program in collaboration with the College of Health Science doctoral administrators, the OTD program director, and OTD program faculty.
Secures and maintains clinical contracts between WCU and the capstone clinical sites.
Visits capstone clinical sites during capstone experiences as needed to foster the partnership’s sustainability and ensure the experience meets expectations.
Prepares students for the capstone experience.
Ensure each student has met health and academic requirements as required by the program and the capstone sites.
Assigns all students to an appropriate faculty capstone adviser.
Collaborates with capstone faculty advisers to lead students through the capstone process as outlined by the Department of Occupational Therapy
Serves as liaison between the Department of Occupational Therapy and the clinical sites
Disseminates capstone materials and requirements to capstone faculty and students as needed
Responsible for all recordkeeping related to student capstone projects.
Fully execute and maintain legal contracts with all clinical facilities hosting WCU DPT students for the capstone experience.

Maintains standards of the profession, including rules and regulations of licensing and certification.
Assists with recruitment and admissions processes for the Department of Occupational Therapy
Provide academic advising for current and potential OTD students
Use active learning strategies to teach entry level Occupational Therapy Doctorate learners in faculty member’s area of expertise
Engage in service to the university and the profession through committee appointments, providing continuing education offerings, clinical practice, consulting, etc.
Physical Demands
Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting, and to use standard office equipment including a computer and 10-key calculator
Must have vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone
Must have the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
Must have strength and agility to move files, paper boxes, and minor office equipment
Must have ability to lift and carry 25 pounds
Must be able to maintain office hours and perform duties in an on-campus setting
Must be able to travel to other campuses and capstone sites as required

Required Qualifications
Those things required to successfully perform the duties of the position including education, experience, certification, licensure.
Must hold an unencumbered occupational therapy license in Mississippi
Must have at least two years of clinical practice experience as an occupational therapist
Must hold a doctoral degree awarded by an institution that is accredited by a USDE-recognized regional accrediting body
Strong clinical background including evidence of student supervision and support.

Additional years of experience, experience pertaining to a specific area.
Previous experience as an occupational therapy program Doctoral Capstone Coordinator or in working with students in the doctoral capstone process
Experience in ACOTE accreditation, including self-study preparation
A minimum of three years of teaching experience in a graduate occupational therapy program
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills including the ability to work with diverse populations
Experience in program development
Evidence of leadership roles within the profession
Evidence of service to underserved populations
Familiarity with and willingness to employ active learning strategies.
