Trauma Decision Support Analyst performs under the direct supervision of the Trauma Program Manager.
Enhances patient outcomes by supporting performance improvement activities.
Responsible for systematic approach to collecting, aggregating, Tri-coding, and analyzing data to support decision-making.
Compares performance to enable intense evaluation of patterns and trends.
Collaborates with hospital managers, staff, and teams to generate recommendations for improvement in trauma care.
Demonstrates knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with the patients, families, and visitors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs.
Assists in maintaining comprehensive, computerized, trauma registry data base in accordance with established standards of the Mississippi Department of Health and Forrest General Hospital Trauma Service.
Coordinates the clerical and office functions for Trauma Services.
Performs duties within approved practices and exercises independent judgment within pre-determined guidelines.

Performance Expectations:
Demonstrates the process for identifying trauma patients by using the trauma registry inclusion criteria
Demonstrates understanding of the trauma registry including input of correct patient data, running reports, analyzing data, Tri-code, and submitting trauma registry data to the State Department of Health and American College of Surgeons Trauma Quality Improvement Program (TQIP)
Participates in trauma performance/patient safety program activities and meetings
Demonstrates the ability to effectively interact with staff and patients by appropriately scheduling patient appointments and performing mini-registration during clinic hours
Demonstrates the ability to manage physician charge tickets, collect patient fees, manage the clinic cash drawer, and make monetary deposits
Maintain knowledge of departmental and hospital policies
Demonstrates the ability to locate the hospital’s Document Control Matrix and assure that departmental form inventory is current.
Demonstrates effective use of Kronos and manages timekeeping for the department
Calculates contract payments based on contract verbiage and submits check requests.
Qualifications:
Education/Skills
High school diploma required.
Work Experience:
Must have a working knowledge and experience of data processing systems and data analysis.
Organization ability and strong communication skills are required.

The individual must have the ability to type and be familiar with the rules of spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
The individual must have the ability to use a computer display station, copier, telephone, personal computer, and calculator.
Working knowledge of medical terminology is necessary.
The individual must have a high energy level and be capable of handling pressure situations both mentally and physically.
Basic medical coding knowledge preferred.
