Job Summary: Under the direction/supervision of the Director of Inpatient Services, the clinical therapist (licensed) provides therapy services, participates in treatment team meetings, and functions as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
Participates in formulation of treatment and after care plans.
Provides community education services as needed.
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed.
Access and use an electronic medical record for patient documentation.
Demonstrates knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with medial nursing staff and with patients, their families, and visitors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs.
Other duties and tasks may be assigned on an as-needed basis.
Performance Expectations: Demonstrate the ability to provide services including individual, group, and family therapy based on a theoretical and ethical frame work, ie.
Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy to patients across multiple developmental stages and within an acute care setting.
Demonstrate the ability to complete a clinical interview and review information with patients and family members.
Demonstrate the ability to collaborate clinically with staff within various roles.
Demonstrate the willingness and ability to actively participate in helping achieve the objectives of the department; able to work independently as well as with a team.
Demonstrated the ability to complete all required trainings and/or certifications and attend all required meetings.
Demonstrate the ability to be flexible with changing priorities; able to tolerate high stress situations / mental demands and make decisions that are ethically and legally sound.
Education/Skills: Master degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or marriage and family therapy from an accredited school required.
Will be required to maintain annual Handle With Care training.
CPR certification (current).
Computer skills, effective telephone and interpersonal communication skills.
Work Experience: At least one year experience in the mental health field preferred.
Certification/Licensure: License to practice in Mississippi as indicated by educational specialty required.
Mental Demands: Must have a high energy level and be capable of handling high pressure situations, and demonstrate leadership and initiative in providing services.
Ability to organize required tasks, cooperate with others, follow policy and procedure, and relate effectively to patients, families, physicians, and other health professionals, and the general public.
Ability to initiate and guide others in the problem solving process.
Ability to become familiar with community agencies.
