Job Summary:
To establish guidelines for the position of exercise physiologist (EP), Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation (CPR) services will staff exercise physiologists who have experience working with patients in clinical exercise therapy programs for cardiac, pulmonary, and metabolic diseases.
The EP is responsible for the evaluation of patients’ endurance, strength, and flexibility; developing, implementing, and updating patient exercise prescriptions; educating patients on equipment use; and educating patients on scales used during CPR, including, but not limited to rate of perceived exertion, dyspnea, and pain.
The EP, in conjunction with other CPR staff, will be responsible for maintaining records on patient progress.
The EP will also be responsible for coordinating exercise physiology student internships.
The EP must remain up-to-date on all disciplines of CPR to follow AACVPR guidelines.
The EP will perform other job duties as assigned.
The EP is accountable and reports directly to the program director of CPR.

Demonstrate the ability to perform physical assessment, read/interpret cardiac rhythms, and identify emergent and non-emergent conditions and make sound clinical decisions.
Demonstrate the ability to interact with co-workers, physicians, patients, and other referral sources in a professional manner.
Demonstrate the ability of being organized and efficient and able to multi-task in a busy clinical setting.
Demonstrate technical aptitude for using and troubleshooting multiple pieces of equipment, including aerobic and resistance exercise equipment, blood pressure machines, oximeters, scales, and telemetry monitoring.
Demonstrate the aptitude to safely assist patients on and off equipment and proper use.
Demonstrate an aptitude of oxygen management for rehabilitation, including oxygen safety and supply.
Demonstrate an aptitude to educate patients with regard to pulmonary disease and care, and cardiac risk factor management.
Demonstrate the ability to tolerate high and low temperature ranges set to accommodate exercise environment.
Demonstrate ability to tolerate physically demanding tasks of moving equipment and patients utilizing safety measures for both yourself and/or patient.
Demonstrate ability to keep environment clean and safe.
Qualifications:
Education/Skills
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in exercise physiology or exercise science from an accredited institution
Work Experience:
Experience with clinical exercise testing and creating exercise prescriptions; familiarity with exercise facility and exercise equipment.
Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE-Must be licensed/certified in one of the following:
Certification eligible for the Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP) of the American College of Sports Medicine; Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional (CCRP) of the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation
