Leads the work of other phlebotomists.
Makes the schedule.
Draws and collects blood samples from patients, verifies records and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis.
Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
Works under immediate supervision.
Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and certification by a nationally recognized body.
Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
Must have phlebotomy experience in a hospital setting.
A certification is preferred.
Responsible for new phlebotomy orientation, training, and competency.
Answering phones, faxing results, etc.
Certification required if less than 10 years of experience.
