Responsibilities:
* Planning, directing, and coordinating complex activity (recreation) based treatment programs for people with disabilities, injuries or illnesses.
* Observe and document patient’s psychiatric behavior.
* Accountable for assessing patients, performing treatment planning, facilitating activities, using and maintaining therapy equipment, and maintaining documentation.
* Conduct planned client activities in recreational, music, and related therapy areas.
* Assume responsibility for the personal needs and safety of the clients while in the programs.
Other duties may be assigned.
Skills:
- Proficiency in music therapy techniques and the ability to use music as a therapeutic tool
- Strong assessment skills to evaluate patients' needs and develop appropriate treatment plans
- Knowledge of yoga practices and their application in promoting physical and mental well-being
- Experience in providing care for individuals with PTSD or other trauma-related conditions
- Ability to work effectively with individuals with developmental disabilities and adapt therapy techniques accordingly
- Familiarity with art therapy principles and the ability to incorporate art-based interventions into therapy sessions
- Knowledge of recreational therapy theories, techniques, and best practices
- Understanding of medical terminology to effectively communicate with healthcare professionals
- Proficient in conducting group therapy sessions and facilitating meaningful interactions among participants
